[Media advisory] FSC's 10th Assembly in Montreal, 1 - 4 November 2018

MONTREAL - October 15, 2018 - Resetting the Table 2018, Food Secure Canada’s 10th Assembly, will bring Canada’s brightest food thinkers and most innovative organizations to Montreal, 1-4 November. Hundreds of participants will share practical solutions and policy ideas to make our food system healthy, sustainable and just. Concordia University and the Concordia Food Coalition are co-hosting the event at the downtown campus. The Canadian and Quebec governments are proud supporters, together with other valued sponsors.

After 10 years of working for a national food policy we are eagerly anticipating a federal government announcement. Food Secure Canada has a lot to celebrate at our 10th Assembly. More importantly, we will plan another 10 years of working together to change our food system so it is better for people and the planet ” says Diana Bronson, Executive Director.

More than 60 sessions will be offered across the four days. Ending hunger, food waste, indigenous food sovereignty, school food, global trade and much more will be on the table. On November 1st, tours will take visitors to some of Montreal and Quebec’s best urban agriculture initiatives, organic farms and public markets.

Students and youth will play a big part in this Assembly. Co-hosts Concordia University and the Concordia Food Coalition will showcase research and practical action to transform their campus food services and support local food systems. The Food Secure Canada Youth Caucus will ensure that the next generation is a leading voice at the Assembly. Meal Exchange, which coordinates the student movement to transform food on Canada’s campuses, is holding their own national conference in tandem with the Assembly.
