New Farmer Workshops - FSC Assembly 2012
The Canadian food movement converged in Edmonton in November 2012 for the 7th Annual Assembly of Food Secure Canada. Among the many presentations and workshops were two devoted to New Farmers. The first one was in the form of a Roundtable, hosted by FarmStart and FarmON.com, and featured short presentations from organizations working to support a new generation of farmers from each part of the country. The intention of this Roundtable was to create a space to share across regions as well as across program areas and approaches.
The second session featured a facilitated discussion focusing on the BIGGER ISSUES affecting this work and farmers across the country and how to strategically collaborate to support and encourage opportunities for new entrants, farm succession and agricultural sector resilience.
