Genetic engineering, then and now

It was 1997 and I was terrified, facing a packed room in Kaslo, British Columbia. The room was not hostile, only curious and concerned. The terror came from my fear of public speaking. But worse than that, in my opinion, was the threat posed to my children, to our food systems, to the environment and to the planet by the genetic engineering of our food.
