Media Advisory: UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food to investigate poverty and hunger in Toronto
TORONTO, ONTARIO
The UN Special Rapporteur (SR) on the Right to Food, Olivier De Schutter will be in Toronto on May 9th, 2012, as part of his country mission to Canada. From May 6-16th Mr. De Schutter is travelling across Canada to meet with key stakeholders associated with the right to food.
A civil society meeting on economic access and the right to food will be held on May 9th, 3:30-6:30 pm at The Stop Community Food Centre. Mr. De Schutter will open the session at 3:30 pm.
The meeting will focus on community voices that highlight the lived experience of those who face economic barriers accessing food.
Media are welcome to record Mr. De Schutter's comments. There will be no cameras or recording after that time, but journalists are welcome to observe.
