Students would normally go through about six loaves of bread for toast during breakfast at Alberton Elementary School.
On this day, though, pancakes are on the menu and not a slice of bread goes into the toaster. Cheese, yogourt tubes, cheese, fruit and juice are also available.
Students politely line up with their disposable plates and utensils in hand and then head off to their classrooms to devour their learning fuel.
It’s the first year that fund-raising was needed to run the program, MacCollum said.
