Webinar: Health Canada Food Environment Assessment Manual: Implementation and Engaging Stakeholders

You are invited to a series of 3 webinars hosted by the Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance of Canada (CDPAC) in collaboration with Health Canada’s Office of Nutrition Policy and Promotion, Dr. Leia Minaker of University of Waterloo, and Dr. Catherine Mah of Memorial University.  The webinars will introduce a number of tools, including 1) a Food Environment Assessment Manual produced by Health Canada in collaboration with the Federal, Provincial, Territorial Group on Nutrition, and 2) a CIHR-funded research project, FRESH-IT: Food Retail Environments Shaping Health Intervention Toolkit.

The Food Environment Manual will be piloted across Canada between March 2016 and March 2017, including in communities part of FRESH-IT. An overview of pilot community projects will be shared in Part 2 of the webinar series.

Part 1a, An Introduction to the Health Canada Food Environment Assessment Manual will be held on Tuesday March 8th 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM ET. The purpose is to provide a high-level overview of the manual and to help pilot participants start thinking about how they will apply the manual to assess retail food environments in their community. Register now

Part 1b, Health Canada Food Environment Assessment Manual: Implementation and Engaging Stakeholders will be held on Thursday March 24th 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM ET. The purpose is to discuss any challenges that might have arisen, the knowledge translation component of the manual, and additional resources available to communities. Register now

Part 2, Linking Evidence to Policy Action on the Retail Food Environment will be held on Thursday April 7th 1:00-2:30pm ET. The FRESH-IT Evidence Application Guide and the Policy Readiness Tool will be introduced. In this webinar we will look at specific case studies and examples of retail food environment actions, discuss policy readiness and introduce the FRESH-IT website. Register now
