Healthy School Food
The Coalition for Healthy School Food is hosted by Food Secure Canada to carry out one of its mandate, which is to work towards Zero Hunger, Healthy and Safe Food and A Sustainable Food System for children and youth of school-age. It is a group made up of more than 260 member organizations from the non-profit sector in every province and territory advocating for a national school food program. It seeks an investment by the federal government in a cost-shared Universal Healthy School Food Program that will enable all students in Canada to have access to healthy meals at school every day. Building on existing programs across the country, all schools will eventually serve a healthy meal or snack at little or no cost to students.
Nourish Kids Now - Invest in School Food is a grassroots campaign that is calling on the federal government to make a cost-shared investment in healthy, universal school food programs, which would build on the investments of our provinces, municipalities and communities.
