[Ottawa conference] EAT-Lancet Comission: Capturing the Canadian Context
On January 17th, the EAT-Lancet Commission released a set of global scientific targets for healthy diets and sustainable food production. Shortly after the launch of this report, the government of Canada released the new Canadian Food Guide. Arrell Food Institute is providing a platform for Canadian food system stakeholders to discuss these scientific targets.
We welcome guests to join us on March 7th for the unique opportunity to hear from an author of the Commission, engage with a panel of experts working in the Canadian agri-food and nutrition sectors, and to continue the conversation during a cocktail hour.
We are delighted to have one of the leading authors of the EAT-Lancet commission, Brent Loken (EAT) to present a briefing of the findings and this will be followed by a panel discussion between food systems experts in industry and academia working in Canada. The panel consists of Monica Hadarits (Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef), Bill Greuel (Protein Industries Canada), Joseph LeBlanc (Northern Ontario School of Medicine), and Jess Haines (University of Guelph) and will be moderated by Evan Fraser (Arrell Food Institute and University of Guelph).
The intent of this event is to provide space for reflection on the EAT-Lancet Commission in a Canadian context with reference to the revamp of the Canadian Food Guide. To facilitate an open discussion on this between the audience and the panel, we encourage guests to submit questions through the registration form. A question and answer period will be held after the panel discussion and will be moderated by Simon Somogyi and Maria Corradini.
