[Volunteer] Youth Caucus - Content and Communications Lead

The Food Secure Canada Youth Caucus (FSC YC) is a network of youth (aged 30 and under) dedicated to mobilizing young persons and advancing the dialogue around food security issues across Canada. We know that the work of strengthening our food system cannot be done alone and we are definitely stronger together. As the Youth Caucus continues to expand and participate in different local, regional or national activities, we see the potential in bringing together and supporting those engaged in similar and/or complementary work.
We are currently looking for a Bilingual Communications Lead to join our Executive Team. The FSC YC welcomes the wide range of lived and academic experiences, viewpoints and backgrounds that youth in Canada have to offer. We encourage applications from individuals from all provinces and territories, as we are committed to having a team that reflects the diversity and inclusivity of communities across the nation.
What will you be doing?
- Plan and create content/content strategies to increase youth engagement
- Regularly update social media (FSC YC Facebook Page, Twitter Feed, Instagram, Youth Caucus webpage on the FSC website)
- and online platforms with relevant events and news articles
- Take the lead in developing YC’s quarterly newsletters and outgoing communique
- Oversee a social media content database and work with the Volunteer and Partnership Development Lead to coordinate
- volunteer usage of database
- Communicate with Food Secure Canada Communications Team on a regular basis
- Conduct regular evaluation of YC’s communication strategy and improve efficacy through adapting best practices
- Research upcoming workshops, seminars, conferences and events accessible to youth on food systems and related topics to share information on FSC YC Facebook page Youth Caucus social media platforms
- Create and maintain an accessible and youth-friendly online database of food systems-related learning and networking events for youth across Canada
- Ensure timely translation of material into English and French as well as monitor the accessibility and usage of inclusive language in all outgoing communique
Who are we looking for?
- Fluent or working knowledge of French is an asset
- A food-loving individual with an interest in knowing what's happening in the food (systems) scene in Canada
- Demonstrates experience in partnership and relationship building, managing communications, organizational-focused social media and other online platforms
- Takes initiative and has strong communications, interpersonal and organizational skills
- A creative thinker who has an eye for detail and works independently
- Comfortable using different forms of social media and other online platforms
- Respectful of deadlines
- Able to commit at least 10 hours per month, with a minimum one year commitment
- Can be based anywhere in Canada
