Ottawa - What's Your Recipe for a Better Food System?

The Green Door Restaurant | 198 Main Street | Ottawa, ON K1S 1C6 | Canada

Monday, 25 September 2017 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EDT)

Food matters. Canadians make choices every day about food that directly impacts their health, environment, and communities. The Government of Canada is conducting consultations to get input from Canadians to help shape A Food Policy for Canada that will cover the entire food system, from production to consumption to compost. Food Secure Canada (FSC) a national network of organizations and individuals working for zero hunger, healthy and safe food, and sustainable food systems is assisting organizations across Canada to host community consultations on the food policy.

As part of these consultations, EarthSave is hosting a What’s Your Recipe for a Better Food System? community engagement event at Green Door restaurant located at 198 Main St. in Ottawa on September 25th at 7pm to bring together citizens to talk about how we can build a healthier, more just, sustainable, and economically viable food system for all Canadians. Earthsave Canada advocates for a move toward a more whole-food, plant-based diet for better health, environmental sustainability, and compassion toward animals. Given the strong plant-based movement in the nation’s capital, this event will help generate dialogue and bring forward this groups’ views on how we can effectively optimize our food system and the industry for human and planetary health.
