About Nancy Neantan
Nancy Neamtan is known internationally as an expert in the field of the social and solidarity economy, social finance and local development. She was a founder and CEO of the Chantier de l’économie sociale, an organisation devoted to the promotion and development of the social economy in Québec, from 1996 to 2015, after having led RESO, a southwest Montreal community economic development corporation, from 1989 to 1996. Co-founder and former president of RISQ (Quebec Social Investment Network), the Chantier de l’économie Trust and TIESS, an knowledge transfer center in social innovation, she continues her engagement through collaboration with several organisations in the social economy movement. Internationally, she is actively involved in the development of CITIES, an international knowledge transfer center in and in the Global Social Economy Forum (GSEF).
About Jennifer Reynolds
As the Institutional Food Program Manager at Food Secure Canada Jennifer is working to amplify learning opportunities around the policies, frameworks, regulations and programs that will support greater local, sustainable food procurement by the health care sector and other public institutions. Jennifer is a member of the Program Design & Delivery Team of Nourish: The Future of Food in Health Care. She believes that aligning mission, mandate, and margin can transform systems, and that delicious food will drive innovation in healthy eating and sustainability. She has developed communications strategies, programs and policies in her work including with FoodShare Toronto, the Province of Nova Scotia’s Buy Local Campaign Select Nova Scotia, and the Fruit and Vegetable Working Group of Healthy Eating Nova Scotia. Jennifer has over 20 years experience in community food security, sustainable agriculture, local food promotion, and food policy.
About Marc Schutzbank
Marc hails from the United States, coming to Vancouver as a Fulbright Scholar. As a graduate of the M.Sc. Integrated Studies in Land and Food Systems program at the University of British Columbia, he investigated the economic viability of urban farming – exploring how urban farmers are developing their businesses here in Vancouver. One of those farms was Fresh Roots. Marc has worked with Fresh Roots to develop a green thumb business model that does social good. Marc and Fresh Roots has been awarded BC Business’ 30 Under 30 and the BC Social Innovation Youth Award. Marc has a background in genocide prevention policy and finance – issues that he worked on at the University of Pittsburgh when exploring ethical institutional investment. Marc loves to grow, cook, eat, and share – come on over for dinner! When Marc is not on the farm, you can find him running along the beach or checking out a new recipe.
