Waves of Change: Sustainable Food for All – Our 8th Assembly

November 13 – 16, 2014

At the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Great progress is being made in preparation for our next National Assembly in Halifax, NS.  It promises to bridge food movements on land and sea, to deepen our thinking on food justice and to advance our work on the People’s Food Policy. Our Nova Scotia-based partners are already in full swing to make this a reality, including FoodARC at Mount St. Vincent University, the Nova Scotia Food Security Network, and the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network (ACORN).  ACORN’s annual conference (their 15th) will run November 12-14 in the same location, providing a great opportunity for joint events and conversations.  We are also working in collaboration with the other Atlantic provinces through the New Brunswick Food Security Action Network, the Food Security Network of Newfoundland and Labrador and others. This assembly will build on the success of our last seven assemblies and the innovative work of the food movement across the Atlantic provinces and elsewhere in Canada.

Vandana Shiva global leader on seed saving, food democracy and ecofeminism will give the opening keynote address on Thursday, November 13! You won’t want to miss it!!  Mark your calendars!

What do you want to see at our next assembly?  Send us a quick note and let us know your ideas for shaping this into an engaging space to advance our collective work, particularly on food policy.

Call for Proposals: Stay tuned… a call for proposals to present at the Assembly will be coming soon!  Registration is not yet open.
