What is the Role of Food in the Social Innovation Agenda?

Thursday, November 2, 2017 - 8:48am

As the federal government develops a Social Innovation and Social Finance Strategy, Employment and Social Development Canada contracted Food Secure Canada to explore in a webinar the role of food in this agenda. Across the country, our members are solving complex social problems through the power of food. We heard from social innovation expert Nancy Neamtan, Marc Schutzbank, Director of Fresh Roots, a Vancouver organization transforming school communities through food, and Jennifer Reynolds, FSC's Institutional Food Program Manager on the opportunities for health care institutions to promote health through local, sustainable procurement.

For those of you who missed the webinar, you can watch it below. Please also consider feeding your ideas into the Social Innovation and Social Finance Strategy by filling out our survey and by visiting the official consultation page.

Let's ensure the federal government hears loud and clear that food is driving social innovation from coast to coast to coast.
