"Let's Talk food politics"Food Secure Canada members hosted a jam-packed luncheon “Let’s Talk Food Politics” at the Broadbent Institute’s Progress Summit. It was a great chance to engage with politicians, policy makers, journalists, trade unions and NGO leaders on our election campaign.
FSC staff also attended one of three round table discussion hosted by the Public Policy Forum last week. A fruitful conversation took place between a number of government representatives, academics and civil society leaders. Stay tuned for their report containing policy recommendations for addressing the complex issue of food insecurity in Northern Canada, due to appear in June, 2015.

Toronto scores ON SCHOOL FOODLast March, Toronto's City Council approved an increase of funding for student nutrition. The revised budget will now include nearly $1.4 million in new funding, including for 27 new programs. Local student nutrition program supporters were instrumental in changinghow things unfolded with city councillors.

WHO classifies glyphosate as "Probably Carcinogenic to humans"The world's most widely used pesticide, glyphosate, has been under the microscope lately. The International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization released a report in March classifying it as "probably carcinogenic to humans".
