UN Special Rapporteur Coming To Your Community! Have you heard? FSC is bringing the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food to your community! Right after his report to the Human Rights Counci in Geneva on March 4, Olivier De Schutter will join us for an online interactive discussion on his report on his mission to Canada! Already, community events are being organized across the country to participate in a conversation about the Right to Food. Join us - organize an event in your community! FSC Executive Member Dayna Chapman Receives Achievement Award in British Columbia! FSC is thrilled to announce that Dayna Chapman, Secretary of FSC, was the recipient of the Public Health Association of BC Sharon Martin Community Development Award for her outstanding contributions to community development and to the BC Food Systems Network. Congratulations Dayna! FSC Staff and Executive Retreats January was full of planning and strategizing at FSC's headquarters. We started off the year with a two-day executive retreat which provided the Staff with guidelines for the short, medium, long term spectra. This high-level planning retreat was followed by a three-day staff retreat in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts. There, we elaborated an action plan for the coming year. Food Secure Canada Supports Bill 460 Food Secure Canada has put its support behind MP Libby Davies’s Bill C-460 calling for a Sodium Reduction Strategy for Canada. More background here.
PROOF - Research to Identify Policy Options to Reduce Food Insecurity PROOF is an interdisciplinary, internationally-based group of researchers, working with knowledge users in the public sector and national non-governmental organizations on a five-year, CIHR-funded program of research to identify policy approaches to improve household food insecurity in Canada.
