Federal government should invest $1 billion in children’s nutrition

The Coalition for Healthy School Food, made up of more than twenty organizations across Canada, is asking the federal government to invest one billion dollars in a Universal Healthy School Food Program to ensure all students can eat healthy food at school everyday. Read our Press Release.

Youth Space at the FSC Assembly

The Youth Caucus has been having fun and working hard over the past year to put together a session at FSC's 8th National Assembly.  

The Youth Space will have a vibrant fish-bowl session with mentors, break-out discussions based on topics important to youth and finish with a social.

The entire event will be free and open to all that identify as youth.

Food Secure Canada has announced the full program for its bi-annual assembly, Waves of Change: Sustainable Food for All, which will take place at the Halifax Habourfront Hotel from November 13th to 16th.

New Report on Northern Aboriginal Food Insecurity

The Council of Canadian Academies just released a new evidence-based report, Aboriginal Food Security in Northern Canada: An Assessment of the State of Knowledge. This report comes at the request of Health Canada, which asked the Council to assemble an expert panel to assess northern food security and its implications for Aboriginal health.
