GARIT REID: Fundraising for schools is important to provide the necessities students need to have a successful future and the Fresh from the Farm program is a fresh take on healthy fundraising for Ontario Schools.
Fresh from the Farm is designed to provide healthy fundraising alternatives to schools by selling Ontario fruit and vegetables. This new approach encourages students to learn healthy eating habits. Since 2013, 152 Ontario schools have successfully piloted the program. In total, Ontario schools have collectively distributed almost 130,000 kilograms of fresh, Ontario fruit and vegetables, raising more than $112,000 for school initiatives as well as an additional $150,000 was returned to Ontario farmers.
