A National Local Food Day in Canada? Yes please!

MP for Kootenay–Columbia and Critic for National Parks, Wayne Stetski, recently introduced a bill (Bill C-281) that would designate the Friday before Thanksgiving of each year as National Local Food Day. The Bill received unanimous support in the House of Commons at 2nd Reading, and will be reviewed at the House of Commons Agriculture Committee June 20th. If the bill passes the Committee stage, then it will move to Third Reading debate when the House resumes in the fall. If the bill passes through the House, it will move on to the Senate.

This bill is great news and we encourage organizations and individuals across the country to support it so we can celebrate the first National Local Food Day in October!
