DAN TAEKEMA: Every parent knows it's tough to get kids to eat their fruits and veggies, but what if fresh, nutritious snacks were provided at school?
The Chatham-Kent Student Nutrition Program launched the area's first Farm to School nutrition pilot program on March 31.
The goal of the program is to provide fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables to eight area schools.
"Right now we have 1,700 students plus in on the project and we're hoping to double our number of schools by next year," said program co-ordinator Elaine Lewis.
